Tree Survey Services We Offer
Individual Tree Condition Assessments
Assess the health and stability of your trees to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate management strategies as well as producing an associated report. These are particularly useful for planning applications related to trees with Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) and trees within a conservation area.
Risk Assessment Surveys and Recommendations
Evaluate the likelihood of tree failure and its potential impact on people or property. Our detailed surveys include tailored recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure tree safety and sustainability. A site map is also produced showing the relative position of trees on your land. Risk surveys are an essential step in obtaining the relevant insurance, especially for commercial units, where compliance with safety standards is critical.
BS5837 Construction Surveys
Detailed surveys and reports to guide tree protection and management during construction projects, ensuring compliance with BS5837 standards.
Mortgage Report/Pre-Purchase Surveys
Specialist surveys to identify tree-related risks that could impact mortgage approvals or property value. These include evaluating subsidence risk to ensure the security and stability of your investment.
Whether you’re planning a project, managing risks, or seeking expert advice, we’re here to help. Contact us today to discuss your needs or request a quote.

Quantified Tree Risk Assessment

We offer single, detailed tree surveys using the QTRA (Quantified Tree Risk Assessment) method, as well as large-scale site surveys for landowners managing multiple trees.

For sites with multiple trees, our surveys include a detailed site map that shows the location of trees across the site. A qualified member of our team will carry out a visual assessment from ground level to evaluate each tree’s overall health and safety condition, using the QTRA method to assess and inform you of the calculated risk.

Following the survey, we will provide a list of recommended works, along with a schedule detailing recorded risk.
As a landowner, conducting regular tree surveys is an important part of your duty of care. In the event of a claim related to a tree incident, an insurance company will typically require a recent survey to be provided.

When reporting, we use a negative style reporting approach. This means that all trees on the site that pose a potential risk for injury will be surveyed, but only those exhibiting defects that require remedial work will be recorded in the final report and plotted onto the map. Trees will be grouped appropriately and assigned a risk rating. Individual trees will be recorded if the QTRA calculator proposes a level of risk where remedial actions are considered appropriate. Trees that require work will be tagged or spray marked for felling.

A major benefit of the QTRA approach for surveys across expansive areas is its cost-effectiveness, particularly when compared to more traditional methods such as full inventory or full recording surveys. Unlike these methods, which can be time-consuming and resource-intensive, QTRA focuses on assessing large tree populations at high volume and relevance.

With QTRA, you receive only the information necessary to manage and reduce risks to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable), ensuring your duty of care is discharged in exactly the same way but at a fraction of the cost. This targeted approach avoids unnecessary data gathering, which is often irrelevant to the actual level of risk trees pose to public safety. Full recording or inventory methods can waste valuable resources by documenting details that do not contribute to managing risk.

In contrast, the QTRA approach strikes the right balance by providing the required level of detail while maintaining cost-efficiency and relevance, making it a much more practical solution for large-scale tree management.
We’ve received excellent feedback from clients using the QTRA approach, and our consultants follow a trusted, objective system that removes the noise from decision-making and supports real-world, risk-based land management.
